Before You Finalise Your Q4 Strategy, Ask AI One Question
AI visibility is one of the first things I think about every August and September. Businesses begin planning for Q4. They review their budgets, map out campaigns, refresh their websites and start discussing their targets for the final quarter of the year.
After spending the last few months working with Brightwhale AI, I’ve realised AI visibility for businesses is becoming one of the biggest questions companies aren’t asking often enough.
What I’ve Seen When Testing Businesses in AI
Can AI actually find and recommend our business?
It has become one of the first things I consider.
Whenever I come across a business, whether it is a local company or a national brand, I almost immediately open ChatGPT and start asking questions that a potential customer might ask.
“Which are the best companies for…?”
“Can you recommend a…?”
“What do you know about this company?”
The results have genuinely surprised me.

I’ve seen businesses with professional websites, years of experience and strong Google rankings receive almost no mentions in AI-generated answers. Meanwhile, businesses I had never heard of were being recommended repeatedly.
The more I tested, the more obvious it became that online visibility is becoming much bigger than traditional SEO alone.
I’m not saying Google is no longer important, because I don’t believe that at all. I still use Google every day, particularly when I want to visit a specific website, verify information or make a purchase.
However, I have definitely changed the way I discover new businesses.
When I want recommendations, comparisons or simply a better understanding of what is available, AI has become my starting point. It is faster, more conversational and helps me narrow down my options before I visit a single website.
That is exactly why I think businesses should pay attention.
Why This Matters for Q4 Planning
When Q4 planning begins, many businesses will decide where to allocate their marketing budget. They may invest in website improvements, SEO, paid advertising, social media or email marketing.
I would add one more thing to that list:
Ask AI about your business.
Not because it is a gimmick, but because it is becoming a genuine customer touchpoint.
See whether it recommends you. See what information it provides. See which competitors appear instead. Most importantly, see whether it represents your business accurately.
Working with Brightwhale AI has completely changed the way I think about visibility.
A few months ago, I would probably have judged a company’s online presence by its Google rankings or the quality of its website. Today, one of the first things I want to know is whether AI understands the business and trusts it enough to recommend it.
That has become a much more interesting metric to me.
I don’t think AI is replacing search.
I think it is changing where the customer journey begins.
And if businesses are making their Q4 plans in August and September, I think this is a conversation worth having before those plans are finalised.
